Starting at7:00pm on Sunday, February 23rd until 10:05am on Monday, February 24th,listeners of Harvard Media’s100.5 Cruz FM in Fort McMurray were treated to something they’d never heard on the airwaves before…. A 15 hour “Rick Roll” featuring nothing but Rick Astley’s popular 1987 hit “Never Gonna Give You Up”! At 10:05am, the ALL NEW Cruz FM launched on the 100.5 fm dial in Fort McMurray, as well as streaming online athttps://www.cruzradio.com/.

About the ALL NEW Cruz FM: Rock Harder than ever, with the ALL NEW Cruz FM.   We're still blasting the biggest hits from the 70's and 80s, but now we're cranking up a heavy dose of the 90s and 2000s rock - the golden era where rock ruled the airwaves. Think Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Pearl Jam and so many more. We are not just living in the past - the ALL NEW Cruz FM will play BRAND NEW ROCK - including the hottest new releases from Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Our Lady Peace, Shinedown, The Black Keys and many more. The ALL NEW Cruz FM now features more rock from every decade.

In Fort McMurray: The ALLNEW Cruz FM will be heard solely through the 100.5 frequency in Fort McMurray. Harvard Media also owns and operates sister stations 96.3 Cruz FM in Saskatoon,95.7 Cruz FM in Edmonton and 94.1 Cruz FM in Yorkton.  Fort McMurray is a unique market with a young, hardworking population—the median age is just 34. With so much of the core workforce in the oilsands, where cell phone use and streaming are heavily restricted, radio plays a crucial role in keeping people entertained and informed during those long 12-hour shifts. That’s why we’ve adapted our station to better serve this audience. We’re bringing a fresh mainstream rock format focused on the 2000s to now while still keeping our classic rock foundation. We’ve also cut down commercial stop sets to deliver 55 minutes of music every hour.

Plus, recognizing the unique commute times of oilsands workers, we’re launching alive, local late afternoon/evening drive show from 4:00pm-8:00pm with host Jordan Keating, offering real-time traffic, weather, and the best music to keep Fort McMurray connected.
