Feeding Dignity: Hill Companies Announces Contribution to Regina Food Bank

Harvard Media Backs Regina Food Bank’s New Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub

Recognizing the importance of nutritious food for all, the Regina Food Bank's Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub is leading the way in offering a more dignified approach to food assistance, fostering dignity, choice, and empowerment for those in need. At Harvard Media, we are immensely proud to partner with The Hill Companies and other Hill family-owned businesses—Harvard Developments, Harvard Western Insurance, and Western Surety—in supporting this groundbreaking initiative. Together, we are committed to making a lasting impact on the lives of those in our society by helping to bring the Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub to life.

The Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub: Redefining Food Assistance

For years, the Regina Food Bank has been a cornerstone of the community, providing essential food assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity. The new Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub builds on this legacy by offering a shopping-like experience where clients can choose the foods that best meet their needs and preferences. This model moves beyond the traditional food bank approach, where food was pre-selected and distributed, to a system that empowers clients by giving them the autonomy to make their own choices. By reducing the stigma often associated with receiving food assistance, the Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub is fostering a more respectful and dignified experience for all who walk through its doors.

This shift represents a significant evolution in the fight against hunger. The Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub not only offers a diverse array of food options to meet the dietary and cultural needs of its clients but also ensures that everyone has access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food. It’s a noble and enlightened approach, and it reflects a deep understanding of the importance of treating people with respect and dignity, especially in their times of need.

Harvard Media’s Commitment to the Community

Harvard Media, in collaboration with The Hill Group of Companies, is deeply committed to empowering our community. Our partnership with the Regina Food Bank's Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub reflects our dedication to making a significant impact in the lives of those around us. The Hill Group of Companies—including Western Surety, Harvard Developments, Harvard Insurance, and especially Harvard Media—plays a major role in this community initiative. We are contributing $7,500 annually in cash towards the operational costs, along with $40,000 each year through our radio stations and Sask.ca. Over the next 10 years, this brings our total contribution to an impressive $475,000!

As a Nourisher Sponsor, The Hill Group of Companies is honored to be part of one of the top sponsor categories for the Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub. Nourisher Sponsors are ranked third in the sponsor hierarchy based on their monetary contributions, highlighting our significant role in supporting this vital initiative. Our involvement as a Nourisher Sponsor underscores our commitment to the success and sustainability of the Food Hub.

But our dedication doesn’t stop at financial support. We understand the value of hands-on involvement in community initiatives. That’s why Harvard Media, together with our sister companies, will be dedicating volunteer hours each year to assist with the Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub’s operations. While the exact number of hours is still being finalized, we’re enthusiastic about getting directly involved and doing whatever it takes to help make the Food Hub a success.

Going Beyond Financial Support

Our partnership with the Regina Food Bank’s Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub is more than just a financial commitment—it’s a pledge to go the extra mile in supporting our community. By contributing both money and volunteer hours, Harvard Media and The Hill Companies are demonstrating our belief in the power of community action. We are dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, showing that we’re not just supporters, but active participants in the fight against hunger.

The Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub represents a bold new approach to food assistance, one that respects the dignity of individuals and families by allowing them to make choices about the food they receive. This transformative initiative is aligned with our values at Harvard Media and The Hill Companies, and we are honored to play a role in bringing it to fruition. We are committed to ensuring that everyone in our community has access to the food they need, in a way that supports their overall well-being and self-respect.

Join Us in Supporting the Community Food Hub

The success of the Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub depends on the collective efforts of the entire community. At Harvard Media, we are proud to be part of this journey, but we recognize that our contributions alone are not enough. We encourage local businesses, organizations, and individuals to join us in supporting this vital initiative. Whether through financial donations, volunteer hours, or simply spreading the word about the Hub, every contribution counts.

The Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub represents an inspiring new chapter in the Regina Food Bank's mission to combat food insecurity. By offering people in need the power to choose the food that nourishes their families, the Food Hub is not only providing sustenance but also restoring dignity and hope to those who need it most. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in our community and help build a future where everyone has access to the food they need to thrive.

As the Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub prepares to open its doors, we at Harvard Media are excited to witness the positive impact it will have on our community. This Organization is more than just a new way to distribute food—it’s a movement toward greater respect, understanding, and independence for those in need. We invite others to join us in supporting the Regina Food Bank and the Asahtowikamik Community Food Hub, helping us make Regina a place where no one goes hungry, and everyone can thrive.
