Podcasts are in Fact Cool
The topic of podcasts can often be divisive among crowds. You either love them or hate them. Regardless of your inclination towards one or the other, they’re actually a really great learning tool. Because podcasts are so digestible you can listen to them almost anywhere. My favourite places to listen to podcasts are in the car during my daily commute and at the gym. It’s a nice change from listening to music. You’ll often learn a new thing or two and have a few laughs along the way. There’s a podcast for almost every topic, from true-crime to pop culture and finance, to you guessed it, marketing.
I’ve found a couple of great marketing podcasts that are very insightful and give great tips that you can apply to your work or incorporate into your personal marketing endeavours. With the help of the team and their lovely taste, I was able to curate a list of marketing podcasts that are sure to give you a serious boost of knowledge.
Copy That Pops
Copy That Pops: Writing Tips and Psychology Hacks for Business is a podcast led by Laura Peterson, a math and psychology teacher who changed career paths and became an entrepreneur, international speaker, and bestselling author. Laura has weekly guests from the sales, advertising, and entrepreneurial worlds. She and her guests look at how to ethically apply psychological principles of persuasion and getting consumers to buy-in. Using her in-depth knowledge in psychology she is able to accurately explain successful marketing principles. She articulates why we as humans act, think, and purchase the way we do. She explains the way we are able to do this is through compelling copy that tells a story. I really enjoy the speakers she has on this podcast. They are often quite successful and able to share tips and knowledge on how to deliver meaningful stories to consumers.
Marketing School -Digital Marketing and Online Marketing Tips is another great marketing podcast that I’ve recently gotten into. This podcast is ideal because it’s SO digestible. These daily podcasts are around 7-10 minutes and are led by Neil Patel and Eric Sibu. The information that they deliver is quick and very efficient. This is a great option if you don’t have 1 hour+ to sit and listen as it delivers a lot of useful information in a fraction of the time. They discuss everything from online social media platforms and how to create new social engagement to SEO and how to increase your conversion rates and decrease your churn rate. They are also really great at content marketing and creating catchy copy that makes consumers “click.” Essentially everything under the marketing sun, they’ve covered.
Marketing Over Coffee
Marketing Over Coffee is a weekly discussion of what’s new in marketing led by John Wall and Christopher Penn who are entrepreneurs and marketers. Their marketing podcast is typically 20-40 minutes, and goes all over the board in terms of marketing, always discussing various topics at an in-depth level. They provide really insightful information and funnily enough also provide you with a call to action, leaving listeners with something to actually implement into one’s daily marketing endeavours. This podcast was chosen by our Administrative Assistant wiz, Amani, who enjoys tuning in for the educational speakers that discuss their marketing and business-related experiences first hand.
The Digital Analytics Power House
The Digital Analytics Power Hour with Michael Helbling, Tim Wilson, and Moe Kiss is a great podcast that is, you guessed it, an hour. They discuss making an informed decision based on data and analytics. As the digital era is relatively new, it’s a great learning tool to utilize for a competitive edge. In addition, they provide listeners with an abundance of useful information that industry leaders have tested and analyzed. Various speakers provide really great tools and tips when moving forward in the world of research and analytics. This podcast, as well as the next recommendation, was suggested by Sharique, our Chief Digital Strategist. He likes to nerd out on data, analytics, and SEM, but we still think he’s pretty cool.
The Art of Online Business
The Art of Online Business with Rick Mulready provides you with practical tips, mindsets, actionable strategies, detailed case studies, and an abundance of information that will be pivotal in you building an online business. Rick is an online business coach, ad expert, and lifestyle entrepreneur. He does a great job of tackling complex ideas and making them digestible.
In addition, he explains and teaches social media strategies which he promises will yield an overall increase in sales. This podcast format is really nice because it provides you with episodes that are 45 minutes to an hour as well as “quick tip” podcasts that are around 12 minutes. Thus, making it a great podcast for when you’re short on time AND also great for when you have more time to listen. The quick tips are great and provide you with “life hacks” that’ll give you a prompt info boost.
